League Park 1920
League Park 1920
The League Park print is a signed limited edition of 1,920 (the same year as the date depicted) printed on heavy duty acid free paper.

It is outlined by a couple rules and has the title "League Park" E.66th and Lexington ave. Cleveland, Ohio beneath it.

Originally constructed of wood in 1891, the concrete and steel version of the park is seen in the painting. The ticket office in the foreground was built in 1909 with the rest of the park following in 1910. The year is 1920 and the Tribe is in the thick of a pennant race with the Yankees and White Sox. Ticket prices reflect a war tax still in effect from World War I. The large gray structure behind the ticket office is the right field pavilion. Its exterior is plaster with horsehair used as a binder. This was later covered with wood and painted green. The trolley cars are of the 1100 series, built by the Kuhlman Car Co. of Cleveland, and are the appropriate color scheme of the era. The westbound Payne trolley is a trailer train, which drew all its power from the lead car, an arrangement unique to Cleveland. Near game's end, a long line of trailer trains would form along a siding running the length of the right field wall, waiting for fans to let out. Practicing players would sometimes toss a ball over the fence so that some lucky youngster could return it for free admission to the game.
